Robbie Williams to become a dad

Robbie Williams has confirmed he is to become a father for the first time with his wife Ayda.

The star made the announcement via his blog and admitted he had been keeping it from fans.

"We've seen scans and cried, looked at babies in commercials and teared up," he said. "The nursery is already planned."

The 38-year-old didn't confirm when the baby was due or whether the couple knew the sex of their unborn child.

Williams also wrote: "Hey Friendlies, I've been keeping a secret from you all.

"Me and Ayda are going to be mummy and daddy this year."

"Basically I'm in love with a little person growing in mummy's belly and can't wait to be a daddy.

Williams admitted he was crying while writing the announcement, and finished his blog by writing, "much love, much joy. Roberto, mum and little bump. XXXXX"
